Rachel & Seth's Story

Rachel always knew she wanted kids. She remembers telling her friends in high school how she couldn't wait to be a mom with a tribe of children. She grew up babysitting the neighborhood kids, cousins, and even her little brother, who is six years younger than her. She has always felt so comfortable around babies and children, in a way she has felt it was her calling to be surrounded by them.

Rachel became a hairdresser in 2014, the same year she graduated high school. It was her dream to make people feel great about themselves.  That same year she started at a salon in her small town.  Two years later, Rachel met her husband, Seth. That’s when she feels her life really took off.

Seth, a nurse at the Cleveland Clinic, swept Rachel right off her feet and the two married in 2019. Seth and Rachel have a very, very strong faith in Jesus and the two are very involved in their church. Seth plays Drums along with Rachel who sings on the worship team.  They felt they had their whole lives ahead of them and were ready to take on raising a family together.  Little did they know the struggles they were going to face so early on.

The raging pandemic of COVID 19 hit and Rachel closed her doors for 8 weeks while Seth was still working in the hospital.  After Rachel went back to work in May of 2020 and provided some income to their household again, they thought why not start to try? What do they have to lose?  Rachel Dreamt about celebrating a pregnancy with her family around the holidays. She knew it would take a few months, like it does for most people.  Boy, was she wrong.

That holiday season was tough when Rachel got her period on Christmas Eve of 2020. Her dream was crushed.  But, she had hope for the future.  Fast forward six more months and Rachel and Seth had a conversation with their OBGYN. She recommended the couple to see an infertility specialist for basic testing.

"It could just be taking you two a little longer than others." The specialist said. "But we will do some basic testing to make sure everything is working properly."

So, that’s what they did.  Of course, all tests came out normal, a double-edged sword. Of course, you don't want to find anything wrong. But if you do, that issue can hopefully be corrected and success will follow.  They were at loss and had no idea what to do.  The specialist told them to keep trying and revisit in six months.

Six months later, January of 2022, the doctor suggested IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) with letrazole to stimulate ovulation.  The couple did two cycles, one in January 2022 and one in February 2022, neither of which were successful. They were devastated. How could this not work?  They are “normal”.  Nothing is wrong with them according to the tests.  After these two cycles failed, they were officially diagnosed with "Unexplained Infertility".

Here we are in present day, six months later, two IUIs and one polyp removal procedure later, still with no baby and no answers. The couple is so thankful for their family, friends, and fellow infertility warriors. The couple plans on starting Fertility treatments again in the near future if that is where God leads them to go. Rachel is very passionate about helping and supporting couples around her that are walking through something similar to what her and her husband are walking through. She is never hesitant to talk about her story and to spread the awareness of infertility. Seth and Rachel are so so so excited to partner with Rebecca and Ethan in the vision of The Daffodil Room. The struggle is part of the story and Rachel and Seth are so excited to be part of your story!
